Many of the ideas within this article are my own, but the denizens of RAST both acted as an excellent sounding board and contributed a great deal of refinement to my own thoughts, so thanks as usual for that. Essentially, I'm going to do a general walk-through of the amazing device that is the Federation phaser. The purpose of this article is to explore various aspects of phaser weapons seen in the Star Trek universe.
